AKiMBO Duo

AKiMBO is a music duo hailing from South Africa, who embellish a broad variety of popular songs with their own unique style of classical guitar, steel string guitar, ukelele, keyboard, percussion and beautiful vocal harmonies.

Their performances are heartfelt and passionate and you can expect diverse genres from many different eras – anything from the 60’s and earlier right up to the present, as well as some original music.

The duo consists of Andi, who does most of the lead vocals whilst also switching between steel string guitar, ukulele, keyboard and some basic percussive instruments. With her background in stage performance, she certainly knows how to captivate an audience.

Tayne is the other half of the duo and uses his classical guitar with guitar effects to add finger picking, riffs and rhythm guitar to the mix. He also provides backing vocals and adds a beat using his homemade foot operated percussion set up.
Between the two of them they have a big sound for a duo and are known to keep an audience excitedly rapt and entertained. They know how to play into the nuances of an audience and adapt when the event calls for it.
